The Witcher 2 Save Editor
Explore, repair and customize Geralt’s hunt for the Kingslayer: orens, level and experience, the four skill trees as the game draws them, his inventory and gear, alchemy formulas and ingredients, and the quest journal.
Offline single-player only. This editor is for your own single-player saves. It runs entirely in your browser: the file never leaves your computer.
What you can do
Orens
Set how much money Geralt carries.
Level and experience
Change Geralt’s level up to 35. The experience and the level-up bonuses follow, and each new level brings a talent point, as in the game.
Talent points
Set how many unspent talent points Geralt has to learn skills with.
Skills
Learn or forget skills in the Training, Swordsmanship, Alchemy and Magic trees, laid out as in the game’s character panel, and give or take away the abilities the story, books and trainers grant.
Inventory
Browse everything Geralt carries with the game’s own filters, change stack sizes, equip swords, armor and trophies, fill the quick slots and remove what you don’t want.
Alchemy
See which formulas Geralt knows and what each needs, learn the ones he’s missing and set how many of each ingredient he carries.
Quest journal
Read the journal chapter by chapter and tidy up a quest left open by marking it completed or failed.
New items
Add any of the game’s swords, armor, potions, bombs, traps, runes, armor enhancements, mutagens, ingredients, diagrams and books.
Where are my saves?
- Windows
Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves\- macOS (Steam)
- a “gamesaves” folder inside the game’s GameDocuments folder under ~/Library/Application Support (the folder is created when you first save)
Each save is a .sav file such as ManualSave_0032.sav, QuickSave_0001.sav or AutoSave_0003.sav, with a picture of the same name next to it. Close the game before you copy or replace the file. If you can’t find the folder on a Mac, make a save in the game, then search for “gamesaves” in Finder.
With Steam Cloud on, Steam may put back its own copy of the save. Replace the file while Steam is closed, or turn Steam Cloud off for The Witcher 2 first.
Copy the .sav file somewhere safe before editing. The editor doesn’t keep backups.

Questions
Where does The Witcher 2 keep its saves?
On Windows in Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves, and on a Mac in a gamesaves folder under ~/Library/Application Support. Every save is one .sav file with a .bmp picture of the same name; the editor needs only the .sav file.
Is my save uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and written in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
How do I put the edited save back?
Download it, then copy the downloaded file over the original in the gamesaves folder, with the game closed. Keep the same file name. If Steam Cloud is on, do it while Steam is closed too.
Which versions are supported?
Saves of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, the Steam and GOG version for Windows and the Steam version for Mac. Back up your save first: edits are at your own risk.
Why does learning a skill take a talent point?
In the game every skill level costs one talent point. The editor does the same: learning a skill spends a point when Geralt has one, and forgetting a skill gives it back. You can also set the points yourself.
Can I edit quests?
Not yet. The quest log and the world’s state are kept as they are.
