Short on orens: see how many Geralt carries and set the amount
Checked against The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition game files · October 30, 2026
Money runs short in The Witcher 2 when you most want it: armor from a smith, formulas and diagrams from merchants, enhancements, and bets at dice poker or arm wrestling all take orens. In your save, orens are an item in Geralt's inventory, and the editor reads the number from it. It can set a new amount, so a long-awaited purchase is no longer the wall in your game.
What orens buy
- Weapons and armor from merchants and smiths.
- Crafting diagrams and alchemy formulas. If you never found a formula, a merchant may sell it.
- Armor enhancements and runes for your gear.
- Stakes in dice poker, arm wrestling and fist fights.
The usual way is to sell loot and finish contracts. The editor is for when you have spent your purse on the wrong thing, or you simply do not want money to be what stops you.
See and change your orens
The editor reads your save in your browser. The file is not uploaded anywhere, and nothing changes unless you download an edit.
- Close the game and copy your save file (.sav). The editor keeps no backups, and edits are at your own risk.
- Open the save in the editor and open the Character tab.
- Under Money, Orens shows the coins in Geralt’s purse. Type a new amount. The editor accepts any whole number from 0 up to 9,999,999.
- Download the save and put it back over the old file (see below).
The Inventory tab shows the same stack as Orens, and you can also change its quantity there.
A sensible amount
A few thousand orens covers most purchases at a chapter’s start. A very large amount makes the shops trivial and takes away the point of selling loot, so choose what you want your game to feel like.
This is for your own offline single-player game. Changing the amount changes how the game plays, and the editor does not make backups, so keep a copy of your original save.
Put the edited save back
Download the save, close the game, and copy the downloaded .sav over the original in the gamesaves folder, keeping the same name. With Steam Cloud on, do it while Steam is closed too, or Steam may put its own copy back.
