Road convoys: bring one back for another fight
Checked against Mad Max (2015) Patch 4 · November 3, 2026
Each of the Wasteland’s road convoys can be wrecked once, and then the roads of that territory stay quiet. Convoys are among the best fights in the game, and the scrap, wrecks and hood ornaments they give are why people want them again. In your save each of the 13 has a state, and the editor shows them and can put a convoy back as it was before its first fight.
The 13 convoys
They are split between the three territories: Jeet, Gutgash and Pink Eye. The Wasteland tab lists them as “territory, convoy N” with one of three states: Not found, On the map or Wrecked. The game’s own story convoy is not in the list and is left alone.
Once a convoy is wrecked, the game does not bring it back, short of starting a new game. This is the way round that.
Bring a convoy back
- Close the game and Steam, and copy your save file. The editor keeps no backups, and edits are at your own risk.
- Open the save in the editor and go to the Wasteland tab. The Convoys section says how many are wrecked.
- On the convoy you want, pick On the map or Not found. Or press Bring all back, on the map, or Bring all back, not found, to do every one.
- Download the save and put it back over the old file (see below).
On the map or not found?
- On the map: the convoy’s route shows in red and you can chase it from the start.
- Not found: the convoy is out on the roads but not on the map until you come across it, as in a first play-through.
A brought-back convoy can be fought again, and the scrap it carries is a good way to fill up. If scrap is all you want, see short on scrap.
Choosing Wrecked does the opposite. It takes a convoy off the roads without a fight, so it leaves no wreck and no hood ornament, and is for removing one you do not want to meet.
What to expect
- A brought-back convoy is as before its first fight: it can be fought again for its scrap and wreck.
- The editor changes the convoy’s own record only. It does not touch the scrap you already have or the ornaments on your car.
This is for your own offline single-player game. The editor does not make backups, so keep a copy of your original save.
Put the edited save back
Download the save, close the game and Steam, and copy the downloaded file over the original in your Steam user data folder (userdata/<your id>/234140/remote), keeping the same name. Steam Cloud may otherwise put its own copy back, so replace the file while Steam is closed, or turn Steam Cloud off for Mad Max first.
