Rogue Legacy Save Editor

Explore, repair and customize your family’s fight through Castle Hamson: gold, the current heir’s class, spell, traits and relic, the manor’s skills, the Blacksmith’s blueprints and the Enchantress’s runes, the heirs on offer, the family tree, bosses, challenges and the castle map.

Offline single-player only. This editor is for your own single-player saves. It runs entirely in your browser: the files never leave your computer.

What you can do

  • Gold and the current heir

Set gold, health and mana, and change the heir’s name, gender, class, spell, traits and relic.

  • The manor

Set the level of every skill in the manor, from Health Up to the class upgrades, up to each skill’s highest level.

  • Blacksmith and Enchantress

Mark blueprints and runes as not found, found or bought, and choose what the heir wears and which runes are on.

  • Heirs and the family tree

Pick the class, spell, traits, name and gender of the heirs the lineage screen offers, and rename the ancestors on the family tree.

  • Bosses and challenges

Mark the four guardians and Johannes as beaten, set how many times the castle was beaten, and unlock the challenge battles.

  • The castle map

Reveal every room of the current castle on the map, or hide them again.

  • The diary and the manor’s people

Set how many diary entries were found, and whether the heir has met the Blacksmith, the Enchantress, the Architect and Charon.

  • Enemies slain

Set how many enemies of each kind and level the family has slain, as shown in the gallery after the last fight.

Where are my saves?

Windows
Documents\SavedGames\RogueLegacy\RogueLegacyStorageContainer\AllPlayers\Profile1\
macOS
~/Library/Application Support/RogueLegacy/RogueLegacyStorageContainer/AllPlayers/Profile1/
Linux
~/.local/share/RogueLegacy/RogueLegacyStorageContainer/AllPlayers/Profile1/

Each of the three profiles is a folder of .rcdat files. RogueLegacyPlayer.rcdat is the one the editor needs; add RogueLegacyBP.rcdat for the manor and equipment, RogueLegacyLineage.rcdat for heirs and the family tree, and RogueLegacyMapDat.rcdat for the map. Close the game before you copy or replace them.

With Steam Cloud on, Steam may put back its own copy of the save. Replace the files while Steam is closed, or turn Steam Cloud off for Rogue Legacy first.

Copy the profile folder somewhere safe before editing. The editor doesn’t keep backups.

Questions

Where does Rogue Legacy keep its saves?

On Windows in Documents\SavedGames\RogueLegacy\RogueLegacyStorageContainer\AllPlayers, on a Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/RogueLegacy/RogueLegacyStorageContainer/AllPlayers, and on Linux in ~/.local/share/RogueLegacy/RogueLegacyStorageContainer/AllPlayers. Each profile is a Profile1, Profile2 or Profile3 folder.

Is my save uploaded anywhere?

No. The files are read and written in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.

How do I put the edited save back?

Download the edited files and copy them into the profile folder, over the old ones, with the game closed. Keep the same file names. Only the files you changed are downloaded.

What are the AutoSave_ files?

The game’s own backup of each file, used only if a save can’t be read. The editor opens the regular files when both are dropped; leave the AutoSave_ files as they are.

Which versions are supported?

The current game (1.5, after the Lament of Zors update) on Windows, Mac and Linux, from Steam and other stores. Older saves without the challenge fields open too. Back up your save first: edits are at your own risk.

Can edits unlock Steam achievements?

Yes. The game checks its achievements from what the save holds, for example when all manor skills have a level or a challenge battle is won, so edited saves can unlock them.

Why did my level change after editing the manor?

In Rogue Legacy the heir’s level is the number of manor skill levels bought, and the price of the next skill grows with it. The game works it out from the skills when it loads.
