The Witcher Save Editor
Explore, repair and customize Geralt’s journey through Temeria: orens, level and experience, skills and signs, his equipment and inventory with every item of the game, the alchemy formulas he knows and his journal.
Offline single-player only. This editor is for your own single-player saves. It runs entirely in your browser: the file never leaves your computer.
What you can do
Orens
Set how much money Geralt carries.
Level and experience
Change the level and the experience points, and see which chapter of the story the save is in.
Skills
Learn or forget every talent of the four attribute trees, the five signs and the six sword styles, tier by tier.
Signs
Choose which of the five signs Geralt knows: Aard, Igni, Quen, Yrden and Axii.
Inventory
The satchel, the alchemy sack and the rest as grids like the game’s: move items between cells, change stack sizes, remove items and add any of the game’s weapons, armor, potions, ingredients, food, books and more.
Equipment
Equip, swap or take off swords, armor, rings, trophies, the medallion and the potions on Geralt’s belt.
Alchemy
See the formulas Geralt knows with their ingredients, learn the missing ones or forget the ones you don’t want.
Quest log
Browse every quest in the save with its current step, the steps done and the ones failed. Move a quest to another step, complete, reopen or forget it.
Journal
Add or remove the journal’s entries on characters, places, the story, monsters and more, and turn each romance card on or off.
Condition
Set current vitality and endurance, or clear toxicity before a fight.
Where are my saves?
- Windows
Documents\The Witcher\saves\- macOS (Steam)
~/Documents/The Witcher/saves/
Each save is one .TheWitcherSave file named after its number and the place where it was made. Automatic saves have “autosave” in the name. Close the game before you copy or replace the file.
With Steam Cloud on, Steam may put back its own copy of the save. Replace the file while Steam is closed, or turn Steam Cloud off for The Witcher first.
Copy the .TheWitcherSave file somewhere safe before editing. The editor doesn’t keep backups.
Questions
Where does The Witcher keep its saves?
In the Documents folder: Documents\The Witcher\saves on Windows, and the same Documents/The Witcher/saves folder on a Mac. Every save is one .TheWitcherSave file.
Is my save uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and written in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
How do I put the edited save back?
Download it, then copy the downloaded file over the original in the saves folder, with the game closed. Keep the same file name. If Steam Cloud is on, do it while Steam is closed too.
Which versions are supported?
Saves of The Witcher Enhanced Edition, the Steam version. Back up your save first: edits are at your own risk.
Why do items I add show up in a free place of the inventory?
The inventory is a grid. New items go to the first free place that fits their size, and the editor tells you when there isn’t enough room.
Can I edit quests?
Partly. In the Quests tab you can move a quest in progress to another step, complete it, reopen a failed quest or forget one. Only the quest’s own state changes: rewards, dialogue and the rest of the world don’t follow, so the story can end up inconsistent. Back up your save first.
